Which would be a better bag for a High School student?

2nd one for sure.  I have a plain black bag that's 6" wide (I think that that site uses 'deep'--basically measures how much stuff you can put in it) and it barely fits all my stuff.  I'm a high schooler too, by the way.

Edit:  I guess it depends on what sort of classes you're in.  The person down there said you only need one five-subject notebook...HAH.  My school has four different classes one day and the next four the next.  On A days I need two thick books (think a standard math book), a 2" binder, a 1" binder, and my Stage Manager script (2" binder).  On B days I need two different thick books, same size as A days, a 2" binder, two 1" binders, three small books, and my Stage Manager script again.  I go to a normal public school too, by the way.

first of all personally i dont like either, but thats not important.

i think the first one is better cause its not as bold.

you really dont need that many pockets. my tote bag, had one and this year im using backpack cause its so much easier.

The second one, definitely. Look how much more stuff you could shove in there! And its much less... purse-looking. Most girls already carry a purse, so having two looks idiotic in addition to impractical. The larger one looks like a cool messenger bag, like something I'd carry with a purse, or could see on a guy. It would have to be a very cool guy, I might add.
