Which would be a lesser wrong?

As far as the Hall of Fame goes, which would hurt less? EITHER inducting someone that doesn't deserve to be OR excluding someone that does deserve to be?

There are strong arguments that Ernie "Little Red" Lopez belongs in (but isn't) and Ken Norton doesn't belong in (but is).

  1. Wow! That's a d**n good question, Chris. That's a tough one to answer for me, since I can view both situations to be equally wrong. Anyway, I'll try to give this one stab after I give it some idle time on here to think.

As mentioned by the first answerer, inducting someone to the HOF who doesn't belong is an insult to the greats who truly belong. That I do agree with.

Denying someone who has worked just as hard and acheived just as much as a great who is on the HOF is devastating. It's really devastating and sad for that individual to be denied, especially since I their are surely some fighters in the HOF right now, who are debatable for being in there to begin with. I guess the worst case scenario for someone who is supposedly a lock for HOF, is that he is debatable, just like another debatable HOF member. I deny that person over another debatable person is not right.

Therefore, with all that said, I think letting someone in who doesn't deserve, due to debate would be the lesser wrong.

    Good question.

  2. Well both are a little moot because I'm not sure how many people are even aware who is in the Boxing Hall of Fame.  And, as I'm assuming this question stems from arguments where someone pointed to a fighters hall of fame status to justify something, if someone claims one fighter can beat another because he's in the hall of fame and the other isn't then you're probably arguing with that nutjob KING and its probably just best to walk away.

  3. You mean Danny 'Little Red' Lopez? Yes, he belongs. Norton actually won all three fights against Ali. He belongs for that if that was all he ever did.

  4. I think inducting someone that is undeserving is worse because it is an insult to the person who does deserve it. It's better to not remember a talent than to praise someone who is not talented.

    Just my opinion of course
