Which is more dangerous for a child? My daughter is 11 months, she has sat up alone since 3 months and has been walking a bit already. She has a convertible car seat that is rear-facing and is on the back passenger side. I have latch in my car (a volvo SUV). I only have hooks for rear facing on the outsides and I have hooks for forward facing in the center and on both sides. I have rear passenger side airbags as well as airbags that depoly from the roof on the sides. Her lega are scrunched in the back seat. She is 29" but only 17 1/2 lbs. Would you A) leave her where she is, or B) move her to the center but have her face forwards since that is the only direction the latch hooks in the center allow? 95% of the time that she is in the car we are on roads with speed between 35-40 mph. Often even less then that. My concern is that I am more likely to get into a small fender bender type crash then a blowout when she is in the car. In this case the airbags would deploy on her where she is.

  1. when my daughter was almost a year old, she was scrunched like that too, but only 15 pounds.  i went to the police station to ask them because our law was rear facing until one year.  He told me that it would be better to turn her to face forward rather than have her scrunch up like that.  Also, the center is always safer.

    I would move her.

  2. <<<<<<B>>>>>>

Move her to the center, safest place in the car for her.
