i think a spring is often cleanest.... but it has to be moving.  a flowing river that intercepts with a spring i guess? if it's not flowing then the bacteria builds up and it becomes very unclean.

Most likely a spring, but it depends what body of water it is. Some access to human activities can contaminate the water.
