Question:

Which would sound better for an all around subwoofer in a single cab Ford Ranger?

I want to put in either two 8 inch subs or one 10 inch sub in my single cab Ranger. I listen mainly to rock/new age/metal and occasionally rap/hiphop and stuff with heavy beats.

Which would sound more balanced without overkill on the thump? Also, would it be more beneficial to just purchase higher tolerance speakers instead?

  1. 2 8inch woofers will do you just fine. As most people have already said, JL is one of the best brands to aim for sound quality in smaller subs, while also being able to beat at higher levels. 8 inches will provide the feel of the bass without trying to drown out the other music. You will feel it maybe more then you will hear it depending on where you place them.

  2. 2 8 inchers will put out more than a single 10.  I don't think you'll need to worry about overkill.  My JL Audio 10's (2 - 10W0's) can get pretty loud but they're clean sounding.  I wouldn't call them an overkill as I've pretty well outgrown blasting my ears off like I did back in high school.

  3. if u have money to spend go wit JL they have some nice 10inch subs
