  1. Neither one.

They both strongly favor the wealthy.

  2. There ARE no "macro economic benefits" of either plan.

I realize you're not going to give this a high rating, but it's true.

  3. None of the above.

This topic has been addresses many times before.  As much as Americans hate the IRS, none of the suggested alternatives (including these) is fair to the poor or middle class.

  4. Let's face it, the only thing you have against our current system is that it's "Too complex". The truth is if you can understand the fair tax system, you can wrap your mind around the basic progressive tax system that it in place now. Most people are just struck by fear when they hear the words "tax return", but they would find that if they took a little time to learn the system it would be well worth it. What works out even better is that those that have relatively low incomes have pretty easy returns, because they aren't involved in complicated transactions and those that are involved in those types of transactions have the income to pay a tax specialist to do their return for them. The current system is "complex" because it requires adjustments to make taxing fair. In the end it's a counterbalance, you can sacrifice some fair to get simplicity or you can do with a little complexity to get more fair.

  5. Neither, they both have huge problems.  But if I had to choose between the two, at least the fair tax has the advantage of taxing everyone, including people working "under the table".
