I am interested in buying a motorcycle that would be sufficient for both short and long rides both in-town and on a highway. I want a comfortable bike, one that would carry an additional rider comfortably as well. In my little research I am considering one of these two bikes. What thoughts can you share? I am 56, 5' 10" tall, 205 lbs, fit, not looking for a racing bike but one that has power/punch. I know to take a training course and to ride intelligently. PS: I am not impressed with noisy bikes. It is OK for others; but I'd prefer a bike that would be quiet and smooth. I am also looking for one that would be a good value for the dollars spent and one that would be most reliable. Thank you for any advise you may give.

  1. The Choice is yours and you cant go wrong on either one ,If you want a lot of Information on the VTX then go to a websight called "VTX Owners Association"  Once there you will be in touch with over 33 thousand VTX owners who give the good and bad and lots of pictures to see what kind of mods can be done . The Vstar may have a similar sight

    Ride Safe

  2. These two bikes will do the same thing. You just need to pick the one that you like better looking at and sitting on.

One major benefit of the Yamaha is that it's fuel injected.

  3. I'm a Honda man.  I'd prefer the VTX , first because its a Honda and I've gotten good service out of Hondas . Also, because it is liquid cooled and shaft driven.  Liquid cooled machines are reputed to be more reliable, quieter and to have a longer service life.  Shaft drive  is nearly bullet proof and maintenance  free.
