  1. Hi.

If you're looking for a weapon to start with I would go with the staff, it's the most basic and easiest to learn.

If you're looking for a weapon to master then you need to learn at least the very basics of all of these and pick your favorite as it's personal preference.  If you pick a weapon that you maybe don't like as much as you would another you may never reach your full potential with it.

If you’re looking for the most practical to learn then again I would say the staff.  if you need to improvise an object as a weapon you are more likely to find something to use that resembles a staff rather than a sword.

My personal preference out of these would be the broadsword with the spear a semi close second.  I just like the way the broadsword and spear feel, their balance and their applications.  So for me those are best to learn, for you it may be different.

Also your list is very short; there are dozens of Wushu weapons to choose from.  If you are not restricted in what you learn then just look around at different Wushu weapons and research which ones interest you, then pick one.

Regardless, just do everything you can to make a well informed and educated decision then take what you know and go with your gut.  Your first choice will probably be the right one for you.

I hope this helps and good luck making a decision :)

  2. Id also have to go with the staff, its simple and very effective

  3. A sword or a braodsword because if you're in a streetfight against a load of people then you can take the windsheild wippers of nearby cars and slash your opponents with them.

  4. Staff, because its handy and you can take it with you anywhere.

  5. Staff, aside from balance you can always find one if you need it.

  6. I would go with the Staff.  It can easily be manipulated in many ways, thrusting, sweeping, pulling, ect.  Plus, it has the most self defense aspect for environmental weapons.  A broom or mop handle, as well as a pole or any similarly shaped weapon can be used to some extend with knowledge of a Staff.  Keep in mind I am not biased toward the staff, I am a swordsman.

  7. They're all useful. The thing is that in modern times, you're not exactly training them so that you'll be effective with them in a fight. Weapons are very important in teaching balance, co-ordination and control.

  8. ever heard of the "bisento" it is a  awesome weapon google it (image search)

  9. How about my fists and feet? I don't like weapons.

But if I had to choose, I wouldn't choose the staff. I hate it and I have bad memories with it. I guess I just don't have the talent for fighting with a staff. I went for lessons for 6 months but I made almost no progress...

I would prefer a short, one-handed weapon so I would have to pick the broadsword.
