They looked like germs magnified under a microscope.

Could someone tell me what they are and why I'm seeing them?

Thanks in advance.

  1. I've been seeing the same thing for more than 25 years. sorry dont know the answer but good question. I also would like to know.

  2. i get them a lot, its something 2 do with ur eye n brain interacting, i personally like 2 play games wid them hehe, like trying to look directly at them, they always win lol

  3. we all have them and little black dots

    they are called "floaters"

  4. you been looking at the sun too long - they are minute dust particles that stick on your cornea..totally harmless and will wash out naturally...HOWEVER... no harm in checking with an ophthalmist if problem persists

  5. What you were seeing was the little capillaries in the back of your retina and the blood flowing through them. If you get a chance to do this again I bet you will see that they "spinning" actually matches your heart beat. We saw this as a science display when we were at the CaSciencenter in Los Angeles a couple months ago! They had a special screen you could look at that showed this. They also said that in the right circumstances you can look up into the sky and with the right light conditions you can see it happen as well. You saw your own capillaries in your retina! Isn't that cool! If you get to do it again, look and see if it matches your heartbeat! I have floaters as well, like everyone else says, but this is different than a floater! Now you know!

  6. Don't worry, they're called floaters and evryone has them. You just saw yours while you were looking at something bright.
