Hello, I'm an American and I plan to go to university in England, (not sure which part yet), once I become19 to do journalism. Overall I'm curious whether or not if I have to wear a uniform while attending classes for school. Does it depend on the school itself? Is it usually mandatory for most universities to wear uniforms, some, or etc? Personally I don't mind wearing a uniform, I would just like to know. By the way I'm Catholic so I may go to a Catholic university or just a non-religious one. Thank you!

  1. I think the Oxbridge two are kinda stuck in the past as they have full on gowns to wear. Yeh, we get that you are smart, you don't need to look like a d**k in the process...

  2. No.  Absolutely not.   The weird clothes students wear are a result of the drugs they take and the food they eat and the c**p they read, watch and listen to.

  3. No - no uniforms are necessary in Universities in England, and ther dress code is exactly the same as in the US.  In some Universities you do find people on post grad courses wearing gowns in libraries and for debates but this is more for show than anything else!  There are no religeous specific universities in the UK.  All true Universities are state and not private so are open to all and by law can not select on religeous grounds.  This is differnt to schools which can be religeous based.  i would suggest trying London universities for good journalism courses, primarily for access to the indistry.  Although journalism courses are offered at lots ok UK Universities.

  4. It is not usual to wear a uniform at university in England. One of the top-rated for journalism is Nottingham Trent

  5. UCAS is the central administrator for applying for University courses in the UK, you can also find the relevant courses you're interested in on the site:

Universities tend to be secular in the UK, you will be able to find a Catholic chaplaincy attached to some Universities or a Catholic Society but good luck finding a Uni that's exclusively Catholic.
