  1. Depends on the state...In CA:

    8 infants/1 year olds

24 for 2-5 year olds provided they are all sleeping and someone is on-site who can step in if anyone gets up, at that point it goes back to the 1 to 12 (1 to 4 infant/todd).

  2. At rest time, in case of an emergency licensing requires that two Teachers be in the classroom, even if all the kids are sleeping because if there's an emergency one Teacher cannot get up all the kids and out the door by herself!

    Ratio for daycare centers:

    Infants-1/5

    Ones-1/8

    Twos-1/10

    Three's-1/15 2/25 3/30 4/40

    Fours-1/20 2/35 3/40 4/40

    Fives-1/25 2/40 3/60

    School kids-1/30

    2/60

    3/80

    4/90

    5/100

Two Teachers must be in the class at all times (even when you go to lunch) Licensing Standards, especailly at nap time.

Of course daycare centers do not follow ratio and they never will, you can call licensing all you want and all licensing will do is fine the center, they pay the fine and next week it's till the same-you just have to deal with it!!

  3. remember the reason why staff is there while they sleep. kids wake up. if a fire occures, the staff has to be able to help each kid. do not stay with the fewest the law allows- minumum standards are for lesser caregivers

  4. I believe in ohio, the ratio doubles as long as all children are on their cots. I think this only applies to toddlers and preschoolers.

    So the ratios would be:

    1:24 in the preschool room

1:12 in the older toddler room

  5. i think its no more then 8 kids

  6. 1 staff 1 infant

1 staff two GOOD young toddler

    1 staff two- three todlers

    1 staff 10 preschoolers

  7. every one else was right about the state thing. it all depends what state you are in I'm from Virginia and the ratio here is age 6weeks to 16m is one to 4 no matter what 16m-2years is 1to5 and than when they are asleep it doubles2-3- years is 1to8 and then doubles when they are asleep3-5years old 1to10than doubles when asleep 5-12 1to20 and they don't get a nap.

  8. well I am not sure, why don't you ask them.

  9. It varies from state to state. In NY the ratio is the same whether it's nap time or not.
