  1. Yup, intra-mural sports. You can play against other bases or other folks within the base. Also feel free to engage in sports that are within the local towns that you may be stationed at. There are going to be plenty of opportunities for you and your racket.

  2. Yes, they have different levels of play.

Intramural - similar to city leagues where the squadrons on the base  play other squadrons.

Base Level - Where the teams will play other bases.

AF Level - could be considered Semi Pro -  will compete at a national level.  (in the Beijing Olympics, there were 2 members in the US Army that won 2 gold medals in shooting).

When I was in Korea, I played on the Base Fastpitch Softball team.  Every weekend we traveled around S. Korea and played the other bases.  In England we did the same - traveling around England to the other US bases.

In England, we took first place during my 2 years there.  Because of this, we were sent to the European Championships.  The first year, they sent us to Iraklion Creete for 5 days to play 5 games of softball.  The next year, we were sent to Sembach AB Germany and played another 5 games.

For competing at the AF level, check into the base gym.  They will have all the details for you.

They will be having an AF Tennis Trials/Training Camp in Sembach, Germany from 6-10 September.

As the base has sports, being in the Air Force does not preclude you from participating on local community teams.

  3. Yes -
