While fishing on the river in north yorkshire?

i seen a large white butterfly LIKE thing skimming across the water----it was definitly not a swallow or martin-----it was about 3 inches long and looked more like a swallow tail butterfly but was pure white----it seemed to glide across the water rather than flap like a cabbage white would------i watched mezmerized for 5 minutes having never seen anything like it before.can anyone identify the species please.

  2. It may have been an albino swallow or swift...martins arnt so common near water! rare to see an albino type!
