  1. Are you asking about stopping, or parking?  Not clear from your question.  If parking, no, put the gear in first or reverse.  If you are parking down hill, tires turned to the curb, if uphill, away from the curb.  For automatic, in park.

  2. Not always correct.

In cold weather climates, one learns to NEVER apply the hand brake when parking, because the brake may freeze up, and you won't be able to move the car when you're ready to go again.

We learn to just leave the manual transmission in 1st gear, or the auto transmission in Park

  3. yes

  4. If you have a manual transmission it is. Park is a brake for an automatic.

  5. I agree with above, when PARKING in a manual transmission apply the parking brake AND put the transmission in 1st or reverse.  If you are asking this question then YOU SHOULD NOT be driving this automobile - this is far too basic a question to be asking if you are a driver.

  6. Instead of u stop.

If u park your car. Then first answer is the right answer and the best .

Yes . it is the right way . what u sad is correct

  7. if we did not put the handbrake on when stopped the car could roll backwards or forwards and cause damage or injury to someone or something , now if leaveing the car parked up you could leave the handbrake on and put the car in reverse gear if faceing downbank or first gear if facing up bank with the front wheels turned so that the car could roll into the kerb if it run away .

  8. For an automatic transmission you should put it in to park.

For a standard transmission you should put it into 1st gear.

  9. It is, and it might not be unless you understand what you need to do that for.

Why don't you put the car to full stop, and do not put the gear to neutral and then see what happens.

  10. apart from what Jeoffery said, it is safe and saves fuel.
