While wheeling my motorbike down a small step (2 inches max) the back wheel locked up. Any ideas on cause?

  1. either the bearings have collapsed or the rear shoes have failled...


  2. You might have caught the foot gear lever and put it into a gear.

  3. hi check to see if the back wheel has moved to one side and is against the frame or see if the chain has come off the rear sprocket

  4. Fred405 - you need to read the question properly he didnt say he was wheelying the bike down the steps but WHEELING the bike.

    It does sound like you have a collapsed wheel bearing.

  5. YES!!!  It was never designed to go down steps on one wheel

    Now perhaps you could ride the thing properly and save yourself and perhaps someone else from getting hurt

    Keep that stunt stuff for the professionals or get yourself on a track day

  6. take the chain off and give the wheel a spin, if it turns without the chain then the seizure is coming from the engine. if it still wont budge, remove the wheel, and check the bearings (you may have burst one) and a the brake hub (if its a drum) to make sure the cam isnt sticking the shoes the the hub.

    ps make sure its in neutral matey!
