Whipless favourite for Horse Racing Ireland Pensioners Handicap
Whipless has won the best odds for the Horse Racing Ireland Pensioners Handicap at Leopardstown in Ireland on Sunday, May 13, 2012. The triumphant horse will walk away with a cash prize of €8,970.
The going will be soft in the 1 mile race, which is scheduled to start at 16:45 GMT, and a total of six runners will be taking part in it. Their names are as follows: King Ferdinand, Lightening Stricks, Edenshaw, Whipless, Bold Thady Quill and Toufan Express.
Although Whipless does not have a good strike rate in his career, he still managed to impress the bookmakers, who have rated him as the favourite to win. His recent performances have been good, but the punters might be a touch hesitant to risk money in his
favour.
The four-year-old colt has participated in 16 races until now, winning just a couple of them. Other than that, he has also secured the runner up and third place spot on one time each, which suggests that he has the potential to fight for top positions.
However, the J. S. Bolger’s trainee was unable to make a solid impression in his most recent race, as he finished fourth in it. He was up against some quality runners back then and had to be at his absolute best in order to challenge them. Things will be
a touch easier for him today, thus he has a very good chance of winning another race.
Whipless will be partnered by young jockey, R. P. Whelan, who has not raced at this level until now. However, his performances at the amateur level suggest that he has the potential to become one of the best in the business.
Other than the race favourite, King Ferdinand might also attract some bets in his favour today, as he is a good performer. He has taken part in 12 events, winning a couple of them and finishing runner up once. Moreover, he has also secured the third place
on two occasions, which shows that he is fully capable of fighting at the front.
The four-year-old gelding performed decently in his most recent race, as he finished third. This suggests that he is carrying good momentum at the moment.
