Whipping topping: How long does whipped evaporated milk hold?

I know it is possible to whip canned evaporated (and sweetened) milk to make a whipping topping. But everyone says that you must use it immediately. I was just curious as to how long it does hold. Also, can you refrigerate or freeze and rewhip it again later?

Yes, it's possible to whip it, but it won't last long.  It's best whipped and immediately served.  I doubt it will hold long enough to decorate a dessert w/ it, only individual servings.
