Whirlpool AFB6640 freezer

Help,

my freezer has stopped working. On this model cannot find a thermostat just a circuit board. The freezer will start if I tap the circuit board, it will then cool down, later the freezer will defrost as again the pump will not cut in unless i tap the circuit board. Do I need to replace the whole board or am I missing something obvious?
