After setting any single handle tap in the house to medium flow rate and medium temperature, when the flow rate is increased to maximum without changing the temperature setting the water runs cold. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

  1. sounds like one of your elements has gone bad or maybe even the t-stat

  2. I'm just doing soon guessing so here goes: if you turn the hot water on, does it have the same pressure as the cold?  Make sure the hot water shut off valves under the sinks and at the hot water heater is completely on.  Another guess is that it could be possible that something has come thru the hot water line and blocked part of the supply line.

  3. There is a heating element in the water heater which is probably not reaching maximum temp. They do corrode with age. If the water heater is relatively new (less than five years) it probably would be worth replacing the element only. If it is much older than that it's probably best to replace the entire water heater as the life expectancy on most water heaters is only about 9-10 years anyway.

  4. this is just a question did you check it for power .

check for voltage before and after the thermostat

if you have voltage before but not after when cool its your

thermostat if no voltage than its not your hot water heater

check breaker and line if you get voltage before and after

it may be the heating element
