Whirlpool side-by-side fridge/freezer continuous...

Question

My Whirlpool american side by side fridge/freezer has recently developed a problem where it seems that the compressor is constantly working. I have checked that the contents aren't blocking any vents, and the control/display panel is not showing any alarms. have tried putting it in standby and then back on, and also unplugging and plugging back in, but no difference.
