Whirlpool washing machine top loader broke. help repair?

Question

the machine leaked and i was told that there was smoke. is that even repairable? should i get a new one.

parents want me to fix it but i never worked on a washing machine before. having trouble opening the thing. unscrewed the screws on the back and removed the panel with the k***s. pushed all the plastic thingies that hold wires into their holes. can't seem to take out the back of the machine still. any help is much appreciated.

How old is it cause whirlpool washer don't break down usually.Is it belt driven or direct drive.They do break down eventually but not usually major unless very old.Usually they have a simple fixNeed more info.If motor burned up  get newLike I said need more info. Ylou may have gione too far in

Smoke is bad.

But I have no idea what model so I don't have any idea.

A rather old belt drive could have a seized pump and burnt belt. Other than that sounds like something is toast.
