Question:

Whirpool tubs and bath goodies-- are they okay together?

I'm building a house with a whirlpool tub and have heard that you shouldn't use balt salts, bubbles, oils, etc. because they can damage the motor. Are there any bath 'goodies' that are okay to use in the whirlpool tub? Does this rule apply all the time or only when the jets are on? If the motor does get damaged what are my options for fixing it?

Any tips or suggestions in general would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

  1. Rock is right. You shouldnt even use soap in a whirlpool - on or not.  Repair is expensive and not worth it since its completelty avoidable. Try a scented candle in the bathroom instead.

  2. Bath goodies are fun in a bath tub, but not in a whirlpool. You would make enough suds to look like something out of Ghost Busters. Clean water is all you can use in a whirlpool.

  3. The motor will be fine. The filter can get coated with oily things.
