i really want to keep fish but i only have a small amount of money.

can i keep two wcmm in a 7.5 liter tank ( which acording to argos can hold 3 goldfish), with a filter, airpump and a light. well, is 7.5liters enough for 2 of them?

acording to a video i watched, 1 inch of fish needs one gallon of water.

7.5 liters being just under 2 gallons and two wcmm being just over 2 inches. will it be okay?

  1. yes it will be fine. Good thing you did not put goldfish in there! That is WAY to small for goldfish, most ppl think they can live in bowl or small tanks when to grow to there full potential and live longer they need 10-20 gallons....each. They are a schooling fish, so you really need 3 or more. I think as long as you keep up with water changes and such you can house 3. Btw, the 1 inch of fish per gallon rule is bs. You either end up with a very under stocked or over stocked tank! That's saying you can house a 10 inch oscar in a 10 gallon tank...NO you need at least a 55 for that! Or saying you can only house 5 2 inch guppies in a 10 gallon tank when you can really house 15! Just go for 3, and make sure you cycle the tank 2.:)

  2. yes you could but they would not be happy

they need to school in groups of 6 plus

you should be fine with a 20 liter tank with 6

    they prefer water about 18c

so they should be fine without a heater

there is nothing suitable for a 7 liter  aquarium

  3. 7.5 litres = 1.69 UK gallon

Smallest Argos tank I can see is 9 litres

You would be wasting your time and money trying to keep fish in that.

White Cloud seldom if ever grow more than 1.5", but the rules for tropical fish are different than cold water. Warmer water holds more oxygen. You would need at the very least four and the books will tell you six or more. If they haven't got the safety of a shoal they simply hide on the bottom. White Clouds wouldn't be happy in a 7.5 litre tank. So small a volume of water will react to your room temperature very quickly and White Clouds are temperate fish, they don't need a heater, but the water can't get to cold, like in the winter.

You do need a bigger tank, especially for cold water fish. Better to wait and see if you can pick something up second hand than disappoint yourself at the beginning?

Edit:  :0) Didn't think you were lying, I couldn't find it.

Those hexagon tanks are terrible, I've got a 4 gallon that I use to bring on guppy fry. Under gravel filters aren't very good anyway, but to clean it you have to dismantle the tank. Funny Argos think you can keep 2 goldfish in 9 litres and 3 in 7.5? That tank is worse than the first one I linked. Less surface area for gas exchange.

Seriously the only cold water thing that's going to do OK in that is Sea Monkey's http://www.sea-monkeys.com/html/aboutsm/...

  4. Yup, I would say so. I would get for or five wcmf (I call them white cloud mountain fish) they're a schooling fish. It doesn't matter if you have a little extra fish in a tank, with a filter and a live plant, it'll be fine. I had 3 tiger barbs and 1 shrimp in a 1 gallon fish boul with a filter and heater and lived a long time!
