I can't find anything about this online, and I've never heard of it before.... I'm looking nearby for a Karate club to join, and came across this.

I've heard of white crane kung fu, but not karate...

  1. Frank and Mito are right IMHO.

It is probably a style linking itself to the past. Hopefully, it isn't just linking itself to the Karate Kid..ha ha.

And it probably is on the up and up... but I would be careful anyways. This decision can affect your training for years.

    Good luck!

  2. Same thing.

White Crane in Japan is Karate. In China Kung Fu.

Some variation in style though not a lot. One of the 5 animal styles.

  3. Probably the name of the club and not the style

  4. Probably an Okinawan style of Karate with strong ties to Chinese White Crane Kung Fu.

  5. All Karate contains elements of White Crane Fist.

There are some - only a couple to a few of the actual Chinese Crane forms that have survived and are practiced by the Okinawans.

This is my reason for searching for a White Crane teacher from the original location and lineage - Yong Chun Village in Fukien, and I found him.

Yong Chun (actually "Eng Chun") is the Fukienese pronounciation of Wing Chun - another art that descended from White Crane.

I am currently practicing the Sam Chien - Sanchin form.

Goju Ryu also contains elements of Southern Mantis, 18 Lohan fist and Shantung Black Tiger.

These techniques were incorporated into the Indigenous Okinawan Grappling Art called "Ti" or "Di" to form what is today called "Karate".

You will find some people who claim they teach the "secret Hakutsuru of Okinawa".

There are some forms that were fashioned after the White Crane but are not actual White Crane Froms. They are not bad... maybe better than alot of other BS out there.

I just want the real thing.
