Men’s Doubles team of Baptiste Careme-Gaetan Mittelheisser emerged as Champions in White Nights International Challenge after beating Ronan Labar-Mathias Quere in the title match on July 8, 2012.
Both compatriot shuttlers remained busy on court for 32 minutes and finished this final encounter with concluding figures of 21-19 and 21-19.
The victorious duo exhibited commendable badminton skills and secured the top position with a splendid straight-set victory.
Meanwhile, the opposing finalists could not lock the honour despite putting up a great fight in this crucial match.
Baptiste Careme and Gaetan Mittelheisser, who were underrated earlier in this event, grabbed all the attention by surviving a nerve-racking opening game.
In the first half, they were a bit confused and took some time to get on the right track. They trailed behind their rivals until mid-game break.
Though, World Number 56 duo Ronan-Mathias enjoyed the upper hand throughout the first half but still they could not establish a notable lead.
They gained two-point advantage initially in 6-4 and then placed a decent margin of 11-10 before the interval.
However, they lost focus immediately after mid-game break which cost them a vital match point.
The twosome of Baptiste and Gaetan switched on their best and set the foundation of their supremacy with 16-14 total.
They manipulated every loop-hole and fetched three consecutive points in final moments which helped them to place a decisive figure of 21-19.
Next game proved even more tight competition as both teams did not allow each other to get into commanding position and made this contest memorable with their gruelling efforts.
There was lot of drama in this part of the match as at one stage it was felt that the higher ranked Ronan-Mathias have avoided a straight-set defeat but then the opposing couple proved all the predictions wrong.
In the beginning, both couples remained toe-to-toe until 9-9 but then the prime French duo Ronan-Mathias stepped forward with four points in a row.
They carried this momentum in the third quarter of the set and put 16-13 margin but Baptiste and Gaetan came in their way and gathered six valuable points at the end.
They played flawless badminton and earned right to wear the crown with 21-19 score on the board.
