can a girl wear black skates?

You can definitely find a black skate to fit your foot as long as you take into account the sizing.  

Someone was recently talking about how she's seeing more women wear black skates but it hasn't trickled down to my rink.  If you really want a black pair don't let tradition stop you.

Yeah You can...If you have wider feet..

Because mens skates and ladies skates Are sized differently with mens skates being wider and ladies skates a thinner length

Also Men figure skaters wear Black skates and women wear White skates..

I have only seen one lady wearing black figure skates

Which are basically Mens Figure Skates

yeah you can but normally guys wear them and girls wear white but then you can get customs that are all different colors like pink and leopard print

I think the sizing would be different as well as the way the skate is made to fit. If it's just the color you like I would get white skates and wear black skate covers.

Women's skates and men's skates are sized differently. Women's regular width skates are a B width. Men's regular width skates are a D width. Men's skates are also wider in the heel and deeper from top to bottom in the arch (the mid-section).

If you have wide feet, black skates may be just the thing as they are quite a bit wider (also go for a brand that runs wide, for example: Ridell does NOT). Wearing men's boots may even save you from having to order custom made skates (I swear by my Klingbeils).

If you do not have wide feet, you may find that you swim in a man's skate. Improperly fitted skates can cause injury to your feet starting with blisters and going on into stress fractures and worse. You can also hurt yourself from falls if your skates are too loose, resulting in anywhere from scrapes to broken ankles and knee injuries. So, if you have narrow feet, I would HIGHLY not recommend getting men's skates unless you custom order them in a narrower width (which gets pricey).

The sizing is waaay different and they are a lot wider, so I wouldn't buy them BUT you can buy black skate tape to put over you skates. Skate tape is usually to protect your skates.

A girl could wear black figure skates, though you would probably have to have them custom made because black skates are made in men's sizing which will cause them to not fit right unless you have women's figure skates custom made in black which is usually fairly pricey. If you would like you can get black boot covers to put over your white skates. It is no typical for a girl to wear black figure skates, but if it's something you really want you can do it.

My sister played hockey and wore black (mens) hockey skates, and so do the women hockey team players in olympics and stuff.
