Question:

White home Red Sox jersey opinion question?

Do you believe that if one is to get a white home Red Sox jersey that the name should NOT be on the back since their home jerseys dont have their names?

A lot of people believe that if the players name is on the back that it is not authentic, but that is not true. The MLB shop sells authentic home jerseys with the players name and number on the back.

So what do you think? Do you think that if one is to buy a home jersey that it should just have the number on the back? Or the name and number?

  1. I agree

    especially if its an "Replica"

    its stupid

if you are a true fan, you know the numbers

  2. no name.  get just the number.

  3. Go ahead and do it.  s***w authentic!

I customized a Manny Ramirez jersey to have the "Ramirez" on the back, so I don't really care.

Name and Number, although it's pretty expensive.

  4. i would rather have on with just the number on the back.

i feel that the names of players should not be on their jersey because it symbols an individual and i feel that when a team only uses numbers its more of a symbol of a team effort.

  5. I'm a New Yorker, so it's a similar situation with the Yankees.

Personally, I'm a fan of authenticism; I say keep the name off for the Yankees, Red Sox, and the other teams that don't wear the name on various jerseys.  I don't like the fact that, for example, just about every Derek Jeter t-shirt I've ever seen has the word "JETER" across the back.  Derek Jeter himself never spent a day in the Major Leagues with his name on the back.  I don't know, maybe I'm being too picky here.

Personally, if I was a Yankees fan, I'd put just the number on the back.  But I'm a Mets fan, so that's a moot point.

To me, a jersey without the name shows me that you're a fan who's paying attention.

Of course, it's your jersey, why should you care what others think?  Either way, you're a fan, and that's what really counts.

And another thing with name jerseys - what happens when that player gets traded or signs with another team?  UH-OH!

  6. Putting aside for a moment my loathing for all things Red Sox... No, the names should not be on the back.  Same with the Yankees: People who put the names on the back of the otherwise-official-looking jerseys look dumb.  The navy blue T-shirts with the white lettering, that's different; they're not supposed to look official.  A Red Sox road jersey is the same way: The names belong.  But if your team, whatever it is, doesn't have names on the back of the home jersey, don't put a name there.

  7. I don't think it matters. I have a Jeter home jersey and it has his name on the back. And it is authentic. I think you should just get the one you like better.
