My 2 year has a white spot on her tongue. She drinks whole milk allll day and night. That's the only thing she will drink sometimes she will drink tea out of a straw. But i can't get her to drink water or anythign! I know water helps clean the mouth and what not. Is this white milky patch on her tongue a sign of anything?

  1. it could be that her mouth and teeth are not being cleaned enough. there are alot of bacteria (mainly good) and natural sugar in milk. the white spot could be something similar to a white head, and excess of bacteria.

  2. It could actually BE milk. Try to brush it off with her toothbrush.  If it does not come off, it could be a sign of thrush or possibly strep, so if it does not come off take her to the doctor to get it checked out.

  3. could be start of thrush dear.  Give the little girl some yogurt with live cultures in it.  should clear it up if she only has one spot.  The reason she wont eat or drink is that thrush is quite painful..is the rest of her tongue red? Same thing.

Does she have a fever?  How long  ( if she has one) has she had it?

At two, she could be teething, second year molars which could lower her resistance and open door for the thrush.

If she has had a fever for a few days might be good idea to take her to her doc..make sure of what is going on.

Few days on yogurt should start to clear it up .

  4. brush & floss the child's mouth well -including the tongue and follow up with the pediatrician.

  5. It could be thrush. If it is it will spread.
