Question:

White spots on my nipples?

I have white spots on my nipples that have been there for quite a few years but I have really only just started to take note of them. I have had two sons but the spots were there long before I had my first son so I wouldn't have thought they were pregnancy related. There is no chance of me being pregnant now so that can't be it either. They are purely on the nipple not on the aerola (if that's how you spell it?). I have squeezed the spots and a thick white substance comes out, it's not runny and it's not milky either in case people were thinking it is breast milk it isn't because I never did that and I have dried up. (It is quite like what you can get out of a white head, the solid bit that comes out first before the puss). My nipples aren't sore or discolored. They are a normal shape other than the fact that they have gotten bigger lately but I do fluctuate in size regularly. Does anyone have any idea what this may be because I am truly baffled.

  1. I don't know what it is, but I've never had kids and I've had the same experience. I think because it's an opening bacteria and such may be able to get in and clog it like a pore. It's not unhealthy or anything. When I get that though, there's no puss, just a little hard white strings. If it's legitimate puss or blood you may want to go to the doctor.

That's my hypothesis, but I'm no medical expert.

  2. Talk to your obgyn but it may be an acne of sorts due to the rubbing in your bra.

  3. That's normal.  Just your milk ducts at work.

  4. It has nothing to do with kids... every ones has them, although to different extents. I was worried about the same thing, showed a dr and was laughed at because it's comepletly normal.... Do not squeeze them, they are just there, like havin a freckle.

  5. Nothing to worry about, they are just the same as blackheads that you get on your face. If you want to squeeze them no problem. They are just pores that have filled up with gunk...same as the aforementioned blackheads!!!

  6. Even if you're not pregnant, you still have milk ducts. It's normal. Just before your period your b*****s can become heavy and have a small amount of liquid, although I'm not sure if it's actual milk. When I was in my late teens I thought I had cancer as when I squeezed my b*****s liquid would come out of them, so I went to the doctor and she said that it's milk. It surprised me that it was normal if I haven't had children. Your body changes through the month due to hormones and at a certain time it's getting ready to be pregnant.
