I am closer to 300lbs and need a whitewate kayak which can handle 300-325. Can anyone help with a link to a kayak of this proportion, or does anyone have any tips. I do not weight quite this much, but with gear and all I would like for it to handle this.

  1. sure there are kayaks for the large person.i know that the wavesport super ez is for bigger paddlers.you could also checkout some creekers to .they are bigger than play boats.they have more volume and a big guy could use one of these anyway keep the hairy side up. hope this helps.

  2. Thankfully, the whitewater boat builders are responding to the fact that bigger people want to paddle the rapids too.  There are more boats coming out... keep in mind, you should really try to fit the hull to the paddling you want to do. They've really made some specialized boats.   Here are some that come to mind:

    Jackson Kayak's "Mega Rocker"

    Pyranha's Everest:

    Jackson Kayak's "Super Fun"

    Dagger's Mamba 8.5

At Liquid Logic, check out the "Jefe Grande" and the "Remix 79"   http://www.liquidlogickayaks.com/

    Good luck!

  3. One thing to consider when purchasing a WW kayak is if you will actually fit in it.   Most are extremely tight quarters and despite the capacity you may not be able to fit in/get in comfortably.  I would definitely try out the kayaks from the provided list before purchasing.

Personally I decided to go the whitewater canoe route (a Bell Prodigy X).   This boat allows me to do most waters I'd ever want to do (Class III) and provides a bit more space to get in and out and the desired capacity to actually carry gear if so desired/required.
