Whitlock praises Temple after defeat, World Matchplay begins July!
Simon Whitlock has voiced his respect for his UK Open opponent, Terry Temple.
Temple defeated Whitlock 9-6 in the third round of the UK Open, causing havoc for Whitlock’s fans. It was indeed surprising as “The Wizard” was last month’s McCoy’s Premier League finalist and faced the mighty Phil Taylor.
Whitlock had a pretty good season, yet, the UK Open was a little too much for the Australian darts magician. Temple took him out with ease and style.
Whitlock’s best performance was seen when he defeated Adrian Lewis in the Premier League and came out as the strongest player in the entire league. He, later on, lost the final against “The Power” but he got the respect he needed in the world of darts.
Temple has been in good form but lacked consistency with his craft. However, his performance at the UK Open was indeed impressive.
Temple’s win against the two-time World Championship finalist, Simon Whitlock, has gotten him Whitlock’s respect. “The Wizard” spoke about Temple with golden words and predicted his future success.
“I knew Terry would be a very tough man to beat because I’ve played him before and seen him beat Adrian... I was feeling the nerves a bit because he was sitting on a double to make it 8-7 and I had to take out 101 to win the match,” said Whitlock after his
defeat at the hands of Temple.
“Maybe I was a bit nervous but, to be honest, I was really up for it before the game and, after that, I was pleased with my game, aside from a couple of missed chances,” said Temple.
Temple has proved his position by beating “The Wizard”, yet, the tasks ahead of him will decide his greatness. When names like Adrian Lewis, Phil Taylor and James Wade are falling apart, consistency and focus remains the key aspect in the game of darts.
As far as Temple is concerned, he looks promising and his future games will decide his position as a dart thrower.
The upcoming World Matchplay, in July, is what Temple should be prepared for, as the tournament will make him or break him.
