Whittle Murtagh set to surprise Farloe Warhawk in Williamhill.com Puppy Derby Final at Wimbledon
Farloe Warhawk outclassed Whittle Murtagh by four lengths in the opening round of the Williamhill.com Puppy Derby at Wimbledon, but the situation has changed now. After a cosy success in the semi-final, Whittle Murtagh is determined to dish out revenge in
the grand finale, taking place on Tuesday, August 7th.
Whittle Murtagh stopped the clock in just 28.27 seconds – the fastest time so far in the championship. The black dog led the proceedings from pillar to post, winning the race by 4¾ lengths.
After showing such a brilliant performance, K. Billingham’s trainee is pumped up with confidence and thus, one can easily expect him to enthral in today’s big meeting.
On the other hand, Farloe Warhawk is no short of confidence after two outstanding wins. After beating Whittle Murtagh comfortably in the first round, Ace Hi Rumble’s son proved too good for his rivals in the semi-final, and secured the top rank by four and
a quarter lengths.
Other hounds in the line-up are: Ballymac Eske, Droopys English, Mash Mad Snowy and Bubbly Rossie. The winning hound will leave the field with a huge cash prize worth £6000. The officials will start the proceedings at 21:45 GMT.
Droopys English ran pretty well in the first round, but lost his rhythm afterwards. The fawn dog was well beaten by Farloe Warhawk in the semi-final clash. Doing something special straight after a big defeat would be a tough task for A. Gifkins’ trainee.
Ballymac Eske was lucky to make it to the final. After missing the crown by a short head’s distance in the first round, D. Draper’s charge could not raise his game and as a result, ended up third on last occasion. We expect his unlucky journey to continue
tonight.
Bubbly Rossie also needs plenty of lucky to break the shackles. He was runner-up on his previous two outings. Mash Mad Snowy was unable to handle Farloe Warhawk’s magic in the semi-final encounter. The pressure will be huge on him today.
Both Farloe Warhawk and Whittle Murtagh are in good shape these days, and an exciting battle is on the cards. The latter can be preferred after his classy act last time around. Good luck to all the runners.
