For Me as a Yankee Fan, Everyone would say Ruth... but i say Harry Frazee.. The Owner of the Boston Red Sox who Sold Ruth to the Yankees, Thus Beginning the Yankees Run of Alltime Dominance in MLB.. No Harry Frazee, no ruth, No Ruth, No Early Yankee Dominance and No 26 Championships.. So, I Say Harry Frazee was the most Relevantly important figure in My Teams History.

What about You. could be a Player or an Agent, or an Owner or Whoever.

  1. Pete Rose of the Reds even though he is banned he still had a big influence on this team.

  2. Imma go with Lefty Grove for the A's.  He just pitched so much and really symbolized how good A's pitching have been over the last 100 years.

  3. Willie Mays

  4. Roberto Clemente, Pirates

  5. I'd have to say Vince Lombardi, legendary coach of my Green Bay Packers, tho Bart Starr would be a close second, and Favre would be a closer third. lombardi started the Pack down the road to years of success, including the first two Super Bowls, and several championships before there WAS a Super Bowl. Bart Starr quarterbacked them all steadily, and set records for completion percentage, most pass attempts without an interception, and most pass completions without an interception---this last record still stands.

baseball? Hank Aaron broke Ruth's mark, started out as a Milwaukee Brave and ended his career as a Milwaukee Brewer.  He once hit a line drive so hard that it made a hole on the wall of left-center field---instead of patching the hole, they painted a bulls-eye around it, and am told that this piece of wood is now enshrined in Cooperstown.

Basketball? Oscar Robertson helped the young Lew Alcinder win the NBA championship in 1972, and Alcinder would later recall (as Kareen Abdul-Jabbar) that Robertson was "the best player I ever played with, or against. he always gave me the ball right when and where I wanted it." This is saying alot, coming from the man who played with Magic Johnson and against Wilt Chamberlain.

  6. Mets- Seaver and Piazza

  7. i thnk Mr. Comiskey was 1 of the cornestones of starting the popularity of baseball. Not only did he bring promotional aspects to the game (not always good)but he hosted and invented the first AllStar game at Comiskey field featuring Ruth. Witout him ther mite have not been a way 2 decide homefield  advantage for the playoffs. some of his MANY contributions

  8. Mariners-Ken Griffey Jr.

  9. A's fan.....maybe Ricky Henderson

  10. As a Phillies fan, I am going to say Mike Schmid, the best 3rd baseman to play the game.

  11. willie mays

  12. Connie Mack.

  13. Im a Marlins fan so I dont have as much history to go off of.

    Jeff Conine.

Niner was here for the 1st game, for the 97 World Series, and for the 03 World Series.... Takes the title of Mr. Marlin.

  14. Astros- Biggio, Bagwell, or Nolan ryan

  15. Ray Kroc the late owner of Mcdonalds who saved the Padres from moving to DC. He kept them in SD.

  16. Mike Schmidt...other important figures Steve Carlton, Richie Ashburn

  17. As a Yankee fan I agree with the self relevance of your statement.  Yours is an excellent perspective of the cause and effect of the Yankees success.  I would also add to the mix one, Jacob Ruppert who, without his $100,000 dollars to seal the deal, would not have been able to change baseball history as we know it today.

  18. Rangers. Nolan Ryan.

  19. Wow no Red Sox fan has answered this?

I say Terry Francona. Now I know people are like "what! Ever heard of Ted Williams or Babe Ruth?" Obviously I have and Ruth is up there but most people including myself consider him a Yankee. Terry Francona gave these fans something they have so much craved for 86 long years and I think he deserves due credit.

  20. That's interesting logic and it makes sense but I'm still gonna go with Ruth. Harry Frazee could have came in the shape of any stupid man who wanted to sell Ruth to get some cash. But Ruth is Ruth. There could only be one...If that makes any sense at all. It sounds good in my head lol.

Ruth is arguably the best to ever play the game and the most iconic ball player ever. Also, Yankee Stadium isn't known as the House that Ruth built for nothing.

  21. Nolan Ryan was awesome

  22. Ray Kroc (co-founder of McDonalds), Padres. Without him, the Padres wouldn't have stayed in San Diego.

Tony Gwynn would come in 2nd. Do I really have to explain why?

  23. For me as a Red Sox fan, I also have to go with Harry Frazee for the same reasons you have for the Yankees.  If he wasn't more interested in plays than baseball, who knows how long the Red Sox would have dominated?  As for now, I have to say that Theo Epstein is for the Sox.  He has been great at finding talent and ensuring there is depth in the minors.  Excellent question!

  24. Indians....Bob Feller

  25. Braves Fan and I think "Hammerin'' Hank Aaron

  26. Well, I'd probably have to go with Robin Yount.  He's probably the best player in Brewers history.

Although, Hank Aaron played for Milwaukee teams.  Can he count?

  27. I'm an Astros fan.  I'm going to give a fairly unique answer here.

Anyone who is an Astros fan would probably agree that there is no "one" player to define the Astros, however it was the combo of Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio.

It is almost impossible to say one name without the other.

Bagwell-Biggio!  They are the Houston Astros.

  28. For the Twins, I would have to say Calvin Griffith- the owner of the Washington Senators, and the first owner of the Minnesota Twins.

He could have moved the Washinton Senators to some other state, but he chose to move the team to Minnesota.

(Well there is that whole racist story where he told why he moved the Senators to Minnesota... which later resulted in trading Rod Carew...)

If it wasen't for him, there may have never been a Major League team in Minnesota. And for that, he is the most important man in Twins history.
