With the current housing crisis, how is the value of a home determined now?

You have to contact a home appraiser, to asses the value of your property.

You can find one yourself, and pay them for the service, or you can contact the city building and assessment division, and go on a waiting list, which in Los Angeles, is about 6 months long right now.
