Who'd done what in the Shannon Matthews abduction story?

I'm gettin lost with this story, and tell me whats on the news about this family and the McCann Fund. Genuine enquiry from me.

The story is, Shannon's mother knew all along where she was, it was a plot to get money off the McCann's. The Aunt of the family rang the McCanns and ask them for money from their fund to help find Shannon.

That's the story anyway - not sure if it's true.

I'll try and help you - karen (shannon's "mother") was going to live with the bloke charged with holding shannon against her will. He had arranged with karen to pick shannon up from school on the day she went missing but bottled out and so he picked up shannon anyway! He took her to his flat where karen visited her at least twice in the time she was missing, apparently there where also telephone calls to her from karen. The nan and aunt were seen outside his flat whilst she was missing - did they know as well? Who knows? Extremely disfunctional family eh? Karen has said that once the story was out it snow-balled and she couldn't stop it??? Course she could have - all she needed to do was to own up to that mis-fit she lived with and go and collect her daughter - all that time and effort on behalf of the police, her friends, her neighbours, her immediate family - no bleedin wonder her own mother wants nothing to do with her!!! Hope thats cleared up a bit of your mystery!

Its a complex web of lies abuse and neglect, things will become clear as time goes on I would guess, but it looks to me like the mother and stepfather conspired with some of the stepfathers family to "do a Mc Cann" get public sympathy, and hopefully make megabucks out of it, selling stories, maybe a public fund, that kind of thing, one thing I do know tho, that poor child was used and probably abused in the course of this debacle, I hope when the police sort this bloody mess out that they all get prison time.

yep what joanne74 said and um i think shannon is gonna be put in care/social services because that mum dunt look right or stable enough to look after shannon. her mum obviously knew though coz if you were a mother you wunt say "shannon come 'ome" you'd be cryin and out lookin 4 her every minute, you'd be too distressed to even talk to a camera.
