Who's a good first pick for a fantasy football league?

me and my friends are starting our own league and i was havin trouble thinking with who i should choose first. i was thinking a good qb such as tom brady or ben roethlisberger

You only really choose a QB first if the league settings suggest so and even then you shouldn't really choose a QB first. You should stick with the main logic of picking a RB with your first pick due to a drop off after the top 5 and then a drop off after the top 15 or so. RB like LT, B-West, Steven Jackson, Joseph Addai, and Marion Barber I like to consider are the top 5 RB. The other good ones are AP, Ronnie Brown, LJ, Marshawn Lynch, Ryan Grant, Willis Mcgahee, among others. But if you have a top 5 pick, in order select best available.

1) LT

2) Steven Jackson

3) B-West

4) Joseph Addai

5) Marion Barber

Never go with a qb first. If you have the first pick in the draft go with Tomlinson. Anyways a good qb like Rothlisberger should be available in  a yahoo league until rd. 5 or 6 at least depending on how many teams are in the league.

Big Ben is nowhere near Brady. Depending on the scoring of your league you have 4 main choices for your top pick: Ladanian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, Tom Brady, or Randy Moss. LT and AP are by far the most common picks. My top 20 look something like this (use your own preferences to adjust by a few spots)

3. Brian Westbrook

4. Joseph Addai

5. Tom Brady

6. Steven Jackson

7. Marion Barber

8. Randy Moss

9. Clinton Portis

10. Frank Gore

11. Marshawn Lynch

12. Ryan Grant

15. Reggie Wayne

19. Tony Romo

20. Braylon Edwards

Get a top 200 player list from espn, yahoo, or cbs sportsline. Make sure you are picking the best players available throughout, and not dropping way down the list to target certain positions. Good luck.

Big Ben should not go in any ones 1st round. He wouldn't even be my second or 3rd round pick. Even the die hard Steelers fans would advise you not to do that.

You have to go with a RB that carries the full load. There just aren't many of these guys anymore. For the 1st pick I'd go with LT or Peterson.I'm also like Portis a lot this year.

I'd go with LaDanian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, Joseph Addal and Brian Westbrook in that order for running backs.

for a QB go with Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Peyton Manning, Derek Anderson, or Drew Brees.
