I was coming up to an intersection, trying to make a right turn and once i got to the intersection the light was red so i stopped for about 3 seconds and i looked around for cars and i did not see any cars, so i signaled and made a wide right turn to the left lane, and once i made the turn there was a car right behind me, the car behind me was going straight the whole way and it was his green, and as i turned and was going straight for about 2 or 3 feet he hit the divider on the left side of him because did not want to hit me, then after he had hit the divider he then hit my back left bumper with his front right bumper. Who's at fault?

  1. you.

you were illegal the second you did the wide right, law states when turning on red, you stay on the inside lane.

even if you didn't do a wide right and stayed on the inside right, and he still hit you. still your fault. he had right of way due to the green light. you had the red, yellow is caution, red means stop and only go when its safe. it doesn't mean you can go.

I watch something similar to this on the freeway daily and it drives me nuts. People come up the ramp to get on and just think they have the right of way. That those on the freeway have to move for them. Guess they missed the Yield sign as they came up the ramp. Let alone they are in a "merge lane", merge does not mean right of way, it means blend in when you can.

  2. you

  3. Sounds to me like you are at fault.

  4. You are at fault, you pulled out in front of a car, you switched lanes with out using your turn signal, and why did you make a wide right turn, were you driving a truck?

  5. Your light was red,   his was green.     Your fault,  end of story.

Other mistakes I see,  besides your atrocious grammer and punctuation........

the time to signal is before you get to the intersection

you turned into the left lane.   You are supposed to turn into the near lane to give anyone you may not have seen a place to go to avoid you

  6. First off your at fault. Reason: When you make a right hand turn lane onto a roadway with two or more lanes traveling the same direction your required to turn into the lane closest to the lane in which you turned from this being the right hand turn lane from which you started. You crossed a lane of traffic illegally, Plus the other driver had the right of way. Be glad he tried to avoid you as the damage could have been a lot worse.

  7. It's your fault. Not only did you make right turn into the left lane (many people don't know this is illegal), you also turned against a red light into oncoming traffic.

Even with your additional details, it's still your fault. You still made a turn against a red light in front of an oncoming car. Why would he be at fault for not swerving when you cut him off? The simple fact is, the accident would not have happened if you didn't turn in front of him. I'm sorry friend, I hope you have insurance.

  8. you, since you weren't suppose to run that red light in the first place.

  9. It would be your fault no matter which lane you went into because you turned into oncoming traffic that had the right of way.

  10. He had the green light and you wonder who is at fault?

    Scary,very scary.

  11. dude.  sorry to say.  you are totally at fault.

the car going straight on a green always has the right of way. it's not like he sped up just to rear-end you.  it sounded like you cut infront of him.

in addition, it's actually a traffic violations to make a wide turn like that.  my dad's gotten a ticket before.

  12. Its your fault, it does not matter if he was going 100mph or 10mph if you made him crash into something because you made the turn and got in his way and than he hit you it is 100% your fault.

DONT MAKE WIDE TURNS! And why would you swtich lanes right away?

  13. Definately your fault. The right turn on red rule is sooo abused everywhere. A lot of people believe they are right to make that turn on red just because the rules say you can. Fact is, you CANNOT turn on red if there are any cars travelling toward you on the road you are turning onto. Good rule to live by: When in doubt, just wait for the light to turn green.

  14. Ummmm...You???

  15. The law is right on red if there is no traffic, not right on red

after 3 seconds.  You had a red light, you were wrong about

your traffic which had a green light. You ran a red light,

basically and a collision resulted.  Its your fault, dude.  I hope

    nobody was hurt.
