  1. It depends on the price you are able to negotiate.  Some airlines or leasing companies are able to get planes much more cheaply than others.

  2. For me, I like both. I prefer airbus for short range jets but boeing for longer range.

  3. They both have advantages in different situation.  I don't think the airlines care about brand names; they care about what is going to cost them the least money (purchase/lease, fuel costs, maintenance) to make them the most money.

Both companies produce very safe aircraft, with some later models from both companies having no fatal crashes to date.

They are both made world wide-there is no such thing as a European Airbus or an American Boeing.  The Airbus puts many dollars into the US's economy for engines (GE, P & W, and CFM) avionics (Honeywell) and even fasteners (Textron).

Boeing imports Rolls Royce engines and other major sub-assemblies from Canada, Japan, Korea, Spain, the UK, and many others.

Both are ruthless, faceless corporations who do the best to shift blame and limit liabilities (like Airbus in the case of the first A320 crash, or Boeing with the ongoing 737 rudder problems).

Both receive large amounts of cash from their respective governments; Airbus with subsidies, Boeing with large R & D grants and defence contracts.

Overall, I find Boeings tougher, more powerful, and simpler to work on, which is why they are my favorite.  I have flown on Airbus too (but never worked on them; I've heard some horror stories though) and they are pleasant but gutless (especially the A340-300s).

  4. I have worked on Boeing type rated on B737-200& 300 but have worked even up to 800 NG's. 747-classic& 400. Have accomanied them in flight as flight mech.

I have worked on Airbus, type rated on A300, A320 family, A330 & A340. accompanied them as flight mechanic.

I can only compare Boeing to Nokia, Boeing is user-friendly.

While Airbus is Sony Ericsson - I use Sony Ericsson even the model is (B747-400 APU- P901A). P910i.- Great with the modern stuff.

  5. I'll go with Airbus. It's 100% German Engineering!

  6. for me Boeing it is the beast

  7. I like both of them just the same, I like all Airbus Models, because they are quality built, safe, quiet, and efficient. Whereas Boeing, also makes great aircraft such as the 757, 727, and 777-222LR. I like the 757, because it is absolutely just a dream, the 727 for the great looks and heritage, the 777 for that wing flex and huge engines.

  8. i'd have to say boeing cuz ive never even heard of airbus.

    :)

  9. Idk I like both equally :)

  10. Two classic rivals that always try to outperform each other!

Im a A321 pilot for BA and think that both aircraft makers are good. The Airbus cockpit, I find is more comfortable (good when you spend all day in it), yet they can't manage to send some engineers some technical documents (they are either lost in the mail, or they never sent it). Boeing is good aswell. I was amazed when a engineer told me that they designed the B777 all on the computer, and the computer made the most efficient wings (so it does not need winglets). I think it also depends where you come from. European pilots would say the Airbus is better (the German pilots would say its "German Engineering") as its comming out of factories in Europe. This may be the same with Americans and Boeing.

Overall I think, that Boeing is better because they produce a much wider range of aircraft (you don't see any fighters or air tankers by airbus!!), they had more experience, they are used by NASA (if NASA bofs put the man on the moon, they sure know what aircraft they use), and they are a good company aswell.

  11. I like Boeing, for me its the Chevy of airliners.

  12. Being an American, I have to go with Boeing, but Airbus makes some fine aircraft also. I'd have to say it's a toss up. The new A380, nice piece of work. Take your pick. I will always love the B-52 though. If you are talking commercial, the 707, the 737, the 749, come on. Plus all the military variants. The KC-135, the C-5 Galaxy, and so many others, gotta love Boeing !

And McDonnell Douglas, did I misidentify some of those?

  13. Boeing... Airbus worries on the quantity of how many passangers can go on one plane A.K.A the new A380.  Boeing focusses more on quality A.K.A the 787.  A380's can hold 555 passangers they cost around 700mill.  Boeing 747s hold 416 passnagers and cost 400 mil.  That is for Airbus $12,612 per passanger that it can hold.  Boeing 747 is $12,000 per passanger.  So which one is the better buy?
