Who's better Sidney Crosby or Mario Lemieux?

Personally Crosby is my favorite player I think hes a great all around player and captain but my friend says he thinks Lemieux is better, what do you think?

I ask you the following things and they may clear things up a bit.  Who scored on their first shot, on there first shift,  in first game?  Who scored a goal every way possible in one game?  Who has won the Stanley Cup? Who has the higher point per game?

Are you kidding me? When Crosby beats cancer, clutching and grabbing, comes back at 35 and is still stellar, and wins Olympic gold, then we have a discussion!

Right now, it's Super Mario. He brought home 2 Cups and saved the team from moving.

Sid's going in the right direction. He took the team to the Finals in his 3rd year. It took Lemieux 6 years I believe.

You can't compare a 20 something year old kid, to a guy who played hockey for 16 or 17 seasons... Ask this question in 20 years and then you can get an accurate answer.

What has Sidney Crosby done?  Mario Lemieux is a legend, Crosby is a wet-behind-the-ears kid with a lot of talent and potential.  Time will tell.

#66 Mario Lemieux. cancer, chronic back pain, heart issues, clutching and grabbing, Adam Graves hand-slash... he's been through them all... and is a living hockey legend. Crosby has many many strides and lots of adversity to face before he can be mentioned in this type of fashion really. . . certainly something to aspire to but certainly not even close to achieved thus far.

Just because he is your favorite, doesnt make him good. When he wins something team related, let me know. He is young, inexpierianced and cocky. He is not a good captain, if he couldnt get Malkin to start putting in an honest effort. He should have taken him by his lazy Russian neck, and choked him, until he started busting his butt.

Please tell me you just started watching. If you watched while Mario was playing about 15 years ago you would understand why your friend said Lemieux was better. Mario was one of the best players of all time. Crosby hasn't even played long enough to truly be compared with a player of Mario's stature.

You know nothing about hockey if you are even bringing this question up...#87 wishes he could have a career as stellar as #66's and I almost guarantee that he won't.  Mario is one of the 10 best all-time...Crosby will be lucky to even crack the top 50 or 100 all-time once his career is over.

sidney is eric lindros... a lot of hype and marketing...and in the end, he'll be okay... but after a few seasons, people are going to start to wise-up that he's not the best player in the league.

Super Mario is so Great, I don't hate him for beating my Blackhawks in 1992.
