Who's better female or male hamsters?

from your experience, whos more aggressive,hyper,,calmer,? and female hamsters during heat how is that?

Males and females really have no difference. I heard that males are sweeter, but it's true for both genders. Females tend to be more aggressive, but that's ONLY if she has a litter of babies to defend or if you place another hamster in there.

Both genders are calm. They are both cuddly too!

Female hamsters during heat...well, they are very sensitive when you stroke their back if they're in heat, because they'll get in mating position by freezing and putting their tale up. It's kind of funny to watch, actually. Now SOMETIMES, a female hamster in heat will bleed from the first hole under her tale. That's not the v****a. If it is coming from the second hole, which is the v****a, then the hamster may have a serious medical problem. Consult with a vet as soon as possible. It's completely natural to bleed during heat, and doesn't always happen. It happened to my hamster, but not to my other one.

It's really up to you. If your hamster does bleed during the heat, you can still hold her with a paper towel under her.

If you get a male, I hear that they tend to smell a bit more, but they can be just as cute and cuddly.

Here are the differences from experience of having both.

  Females

-a little hyper

- go in season every 4 days

- some have periods which are simply red spots on bedding

-sometimes aggressive

     Males

-much calmer

-fall asleep on you

-less aggressive

- much nicer

So it is your pick but i would definitely go with males

(also, depends on breed of hamster i would get chinese dwarf hamsters)

I think that female hamsters will be more calmer and generally more motherly =)

Males are more territorial, and i have not heard of hyper hamsters =S

They both can get agrgesive depending on how you look after it =)

You might want to get a female desexed if you dont want it to be in heat.

Females are so much better. I used to have a male and female, but the male ran away because my friend's brother let it outside. The whole heat thing isn't a big deal. Females go into it 1 out of every four days, but you can't tell at all. I hate having male hamsters because thier thingy freaks me out when I'm holding them.

I W0ULD SAY A MALE HAMSTER BECAUSE THE FEMALE HAVE PROBLEMS LIKE HEAT ON DOGS THEY COULD BLEAD OR SUMTHING I HAVE 2 PET GERBILS THEY ARE VERY VERY SWEET THEYR B0TH MALES AND THEY GET ALONG JUST WELL!!!! I H0PE Y00H TAKE MY ADVISE!!
