Who's crazier: Dog people or Horse people =o?

Question

Being both...I just confuse myself...what do you think and why?

I'd say horse people...

but it's a close one!  All the people who take their animals to huge shows are crazy imo.  Esp when they do both hehe!

I have a dog and a horse so technically I guess I'm crazy! :P

You don't have to confuse yourself. Personally, I am a horselover, but then again I have never had much interest in dogs myself. You can be crazy for both with an equal amount of craziness. More people like dogs rather than horses, but the people who are in love with horses I think are a bit crazier. I guess because you can do more with horses, like ride them and groom them. Sure, you can groom your dog, but you don't have to groom your dog every day. And I suppose that people are crazy about dogs as well because they are not as expensive as horses and can be kept in the house. Hope I could help!

OK  both are nuts! depends on the person! horse people may spend more but horses do cost more ! they are bigger etc, dog people are crazy too! spending on toys grooming training! come on both can be nuts most people love their animals and will do anything for them!  Cat people are just as nuts! not my cup of tea but there are people who are nuts about reptiles and rodents! who's to say who's crazier!

I think horse people in general have less respect or acknowledgement for their own mortality, which by many can be perceived as crazy or foolish, dog people are in general pretty sound minded, although you get the odd dog trainer, that makes you regret ever taking your dog to that obedience school.

all in all i would say neither is crazy per say, but horse people are probably more in the firing line due to their seemingly insane activities......we're not really..shhhh

I think horse people are crazier, my mom has agility dogs and most dog people are usually pretty down to earth in that specific discipline.

That being said, I see crazy people in the show world as intensely strict and meticulous, have high high standards to the  point of being drill-seargant esque. Then there are the backyard yahoos, the plain crazy people who hang dream catchers and crystals in their horses stalls, etc.

Oh now this is a difficult one.

Have you ever answered in the Dogs section on here - I think half of them are rabidly screaming spay and neuter at everyone and the other half are wannabe backyard breeders who want to register their pugadoodlerottretriever. I visit sometimes but I have to leave quick because it gets scary ! When they aren't shouting at each other there are always questions about dog's periods (!) and potty - training ( I thought that was for kids - visualising a dog on a potty !)

As for the whole teacup dog in a handbag with the designer dresses and nail polish - that just makes me want to barf.

I really can't decide who's crazier - I have cats, dogs, kids and horses so I probably qualify as totally out there.

On the crazy scale...both would equal a ten.  We have a Mini Schnauzer who has more toys than Carter has pills, our horses have the latest in tack, bits, blankets, etc....just the crazies...love them both!

If you mean crazy in terms of resources used and risks taken.... horse people.

If you mean crazy as in needs meds.... dog people. Just go check out the dog section on YA, they make PETA look tame by comparison.

DOG CLOTHES

When horse people start dressing Dobbin in black leather jackets and hats...and Daisy in pink boa feathered dresses...then we will officially be certifiable...

Until then...the dog people hold the trophy...

Wow!!! What a fun question!!! Worth my vote!!! :):):)

Lets see, For my horses I will go out in 40 below weather to chip ice from frozen water buckets. Then spend therest of the winter thawing out hoses and hauling water buckets becuase the auto water froze again.

I will get up before it is decent just to make sure my horse looks aboslutely perfect for his show or rodeo compettion, then sigh and start over when he rolls in his stall.

I will spend hours out in the pasture applying fly spray to them so they can get a few minutes releif before they go jump in the pond, never minding that when I leave them I have a good dozen bug bites of my own becasue, though it's vital the horses are de-bugged, I never remember to apply anything to myself.

I can't walk into Fleet Farm without leaving with something for my horses, even if I just went there for a fishing pole.

Everytime I drive by a field I envision how much fun my horses would have running through it and grazing on the yummy grass. In fact, whenever I see nice green grass I think, "wow would my horses think that was yummy!!!"

I will walk for miles with a halter and lead rope, in below zero temps, becasue the waterer froze over night and the horses have decided to look for alternative water sources cross country.

I could go on, but this answer is getting a bit long already... :)

I am crazy for my dogs too, but, aside from the fly relief, I have never found myself doing any of the above for them. So i te end, I would say horse people are a bit more crazy. :):):) Thanks for the question!!! I love reasons to laugh at the antics of my babies. :):):)

Ahem...my horse attended a horse wedding.... All participants were correctly attired and the nuptials were filmed for those wishing a lasting memorial of the occasion.... It was a solemn affair, including a genuine pastor to officiate and all the bells and whistles one could want in a wedding. I have yet to attend a dog wedding, but showed AKC for many years and my pug is an iguana for Halloween, my sheltie stud dressed as Superman and handed out treats, won a trophy for his Rowdy Yates impersonation. The pug drives and loves to flip off rude drivers.

Then there's the fish... Cherry and Gerry Garcia will tell you how fish people are the craziest. Maybe.

Frankly, I spend ridiculous amounts of time and money on any critter willing to put up with me. Any critter.

I would most definitely say horse people are crazier.

Because no one spends the amount of time, energy and money on boarding, equipment, trailers, gas, trucks, jeans, boots, fly spray detergent, and gadgets your horse won't let you use anyway, like a horse lover!!

well... i dont know much about dog people/dog shows, but they look really crazy with the pickiness of it all.

but then i think about what i'm trying to learn about horses and how picky i've become over the last oh....week, and i can sorta understand it, and why dog people may appear to be crazy.  they just want the perfect dog, like i want the perfect horse.

so who's crazier? i think horse people, just due to the fact we have to be, a horse is a big investment (not saying dogs arent, but there in my mind is two different levels).  you have to be crazy picky when it comes to buying, owning, showing, racing, ect a horse. not saying dog people dont have to be, but dog's have litters of puppies, that they can pick thru ect, where as horses have one baby/horse and they usually take alot more to look after one horse then one dog.

lol, I'm more of a horse person, but I'm also a dog person. I think that horse people are a little more crazy. Horse people spend more money on everything for their horse, they work harder to ride, horse shows are way harder than dog shows in my opinion, and not to mention they risk their lives lol.

I was going to say horse people until I read what Black Bunny had to say on the matter!! LOL! Dog people are crazy!! I've never seen a person go crazier over outfits for an animal!

Ya know, I think cat people are pretty close to tipping the scale on crazy too... Have you seen how mental those old ladies that live with 40 some-odd cats are?! LOL!!

I guess it depends, we all have a little crazy in us when it comes to our animals!!!!

My vote goes to the dog people.

Although I have been 40 + years in horses, I spent about 15 years in dogs. Raising and showing German Shepherds and handling terriers, sporting and herding breeds. I could tell you stories....

I know a terrier handler who will (for a fee) Finish a Lakeland Terrier, then take out the Miss Clairol add a saddle to it , falsify papers and show it at a Welsh Terrier. Of course its illegal, but it is done.

I can tell you about another exhibitor that will have the astrological charts done on her show dogs and then enter them in shows under judges that are "compatible"

I know of a breeder who has completely "feng shui-ed" her kennel for her dogs prosperity and longevity...

So in conclusion, I think the dog people have tipped the crazy scale in their favor.

So, since I am both a dog & horse person, there you go!

By the way, I do NOT dress our dogs up.  They ARE some what spoiled as is our horses, but not the point of bad manners or bad habits.

If our dogs will be outside for long periods & there is a lot of snow & freezing weather, we do put boots on them, like what the mushers do their sled dogs.  The are protection, not a fashion statement.
