  1. It's superflous to ask.

You can only ever be the best in your own era.  The rest is just hypotheses, which is all subjective.

  2. Admire - Sampras, because I love his technique and serve. He also got me into tennis.

Best player - Federer, because he has the all-around game.

  3. admire most Lindsay Davenport because she used her wits to win  and Best player of all times Roger Federa of course .

  4. Admire most..Martina Navritalova. Not because of her personal life or choices but because of what she accomplished on the tennis court for over 4 decades and her hardships of having to escape the iron curtain. Becoming a trendsetter for many Euro players.

GOAT - simple ... Roger Federer the most accomplished player ever who has mastered every surface and if not for Rafa would have won a few French Opens already and surpassed Sampras's record of 14 Slams.

  5. Chris Evert Lloyd was such a class act, she won with absolute focus and mental determination.  She never acted out or displayed inappropriate behavior.  She let her game do her talking and she was fantastic.  Her rivalry with Martina Navratilova is still unmatched in todays sports, it was an honor to have watched such intense battles!

  6. admire most and best player of all time: Sampras. Why? Unlike federer, he had to deal with much harder opposition. People say if it wasn't for Rafa, he'd have a few french open titles. Well if it wasn't for a lot of people beginning with #4, he wouldn't have half the # of GS's he has today.

However I must admit it was fed tht got me interested in the game so much that Tennis is my fav sport and has taken over the spot from cricket. I used to watch tennis before also but I didn't take nearly as much interest as I do now.

  7. Roger Federer is a brilliant player, but I'd say Bjorn Borg would have beat him in his heyday....

  8. I dont think there is one person who can be called the greatest player of all time.

Some say Sampras is the greatest because he has won max number of slams. But he never won French.

Some say Federer is the greatest. But he never won French either.

Some say Agassi is greatest as he has won all grandslams on all 4 different surfaces. But he doesnt come anywhere close to number of grandslams won by Sampras or Fed.

Some say Bjorn Borg is greatest as he won French and Wimbledon back-2-back many times.

Some say Rod Laver is greatest as he won a calendar grandslam 2 times in 1962 and then in 1969 which some consider an impossible feat (winning all slams in one calendar year)

  9. admire most federer.

it is the best of all time.

i hope that he will remain the number 1 for a lot of years.

  10. i'd say the greatest would be steffie graf. she has 20+ GS (more than sampras), a career slam and an olympic gold. despite that, she is humble too.

the only problem is that: (1) she is a woman; (2) she married that overrated jerk. agree, no?

  11. it is so obviously King Roger Federer that a minute spent debating it is a minute wasted

The King has the most complete game of any tennis player in history

The King has the most devastating forehand of any tennis player in history

The King has been #1 for a far greater number of consecutive weeks than any other tennis player in history

The King is about to beat little John Borg's record of most consecutive Wimbledon wins and in a few years The King will have won Wimbledon more times than any other player in history

The King will soon have won more Grand Slam titles than any other tennis player in history

The King showed his class and respect for Wimbledon by wearing a smart white-cream tongue-in-chic blazer - playfully mocking the stuffy Wimbledon dress code is something only he had the sense of humour to do and something never done by any other tennis player in history

Only two human beings have ever been able to make great humour out of a blazer.  One of them is King Roger Federer, the other is Alan Partridge.  Alan Partridge is a comedy genius, so for The King to be the only other human being in his comedy league is an astonishing achievement for a tennis player

King Roger Federer really does have it all

  12. I admire Federer the most by far because it's EXTREMELY rare for one to be so immensely talented and accomplished yet manage to carry it so well as a person. Tennis is truly blessed to have him as he's such a wonderful example to younger people. Everywhere left and right, you have so many talented and successful people end up (or start off) as jerks, they're a dime a dozen but not Federer. He's hardly changed since his success and it's amazing how level headed he's managed to stay with all his achievements. And more importantly, it's amazing how level headed he's managed to stay after having to go through heart wrenching losses time and again at the French Open and not let that psychologically scar him. Greatest of all time on paper, Sampras because simply right now he owns the most slams. Greatest of all time in terms of who's ever produced the highest quality of tennis, Federer without a doubt and I'm sure he'll surpass Sampras' slams tally sooner or later and will be remembered as the best to ever play even if he doesn't win the French.

  13. Before my time it was Laver.  But in my time, although his behavior was atrocious, McEnroe was perhaps the most gifted player.  Conners was maybe the most fun to watch.  After their era tennis became a power game and I lost interest. On the ladies' side, Everet, Steffi and Billie Jean were probably the greatest.

  14. I love Nadal but i lovedddddddd ANDRE AGASSI!!!!!!

  15. andy roddick, i agree with thor.-

  16. Admire most- who else but Rafa, the gentle champion whose looks may mislead you into thinking that he's brute and arrogant....but in reality, he is the epitome of a champion even in defeat...he doesnt bad mouth any player he's faced and is always doing his best in a match...

  17. I admire Andy Roddick.  Though I think many can agree Federer is the best of all time.  Roddick has been around for a while and is currently carrying the flag of American tennis in the world.  I think Roddick and the U.S. Davis Cup team deserve allot of credit for what they have done for American Tennis morale recently.

  18. Every generation has produced a great player and we tend to remember those players that relate most to our generation.  I admire Sampras for his ruthlessness on court and his professionalism. Greatest of all time would have to be between Borg and Federer.
