Who's going to win swimming olympic gold??

which one is going to win the gold in the IMs in Beijing, and why? Michael Phelps or Ryan Lochte?

I think it'd be great if Michael won the 400 and Lochte won the 200. I just want Ryan Lochte to break out of the 'always second place' mold. He's ridiculously competitive and I think now he has the motivation and potentially the ability to do it.

Phelps all the way.  If you looked closely at the IMs, Phelps' turnover was significantly slower than Lochte's.  It didn't look like Phelps was trying that hard.  Further proof of this easy effort can found from the final turn for the 400 IM.  It takes an incredible amount of energy to dolphin kick underwater at all, much less at the end of the 400 IM.  Despite all this, Phelps still set the world record.  I think he's got something even greater for Bejing.

Michael Phelps. But it will be close. Lochte is good but it will be tough for him with the other swimmers of the world.

I think that it will come down to Michael winning the event, but Ryan Lochte giving him one heck of a run for his money.  Ryan has a great turnover, yes, but Mike always does an absolutely stellar turn and dolphins off of the last wall, quick enough to pull ahead and take the event completely.  I think Phelps will win, but not by more than a second or two.
