Personally I think with 8/9 games to go -maximum points are 36 - short of miracle the best you could hope is 24 as an almost run team.

You need 44 to have a chance, 50 to be certain of the eight.

That means Melbourne, Eagles, Freo, Essendon and Port are also rans. With the exception of Melbourne .... couldn't happen to a nicer bunch could it?

Doggies are first across the line as certainties for the eight, but in fairness to the Cats, that's only because of the split round if they beat the Crows.

Anyone else certainties? I'd say the Hawks are.

Are the Tiges gone for the year? ... or is there a miracle left?

Who else is gone or certain?

  1. I think Hawks, Cats, Doggies and Crows will make the top 4, and the remaining are up for grabs...

Collingwood should just scrap in, and im really hoping by Saints & Lions drop out and Richmond and Kangas make it in.

The last spot will most likely be taken by the Swannies - the quiet achievers!

  2. Hawks, Dogs, Cats, Crows and hate to say it Swans will all make it.

your out list is correct but add the Tigers, they have NO chance. I hope the Lions miss out but i think they will make it .

  3. I think the current top 8 teams will be there at the end of the season. Only change that might happen are St. Kilda dropping out and Carlton/North Melbourne going in. Although the other teams are a mathematical chance the top 10 teams are the only ones in the still finals race.

Top 4 should stay the same, just don't know about the order, so the Bulldogs, Geelong, Hawthorn and Sydney are certainties.

  4. I don't think the eight will be decided until right at the end of the season. Teams like Carlton, St Kilda, Kangaroos, Collingwood, Brisbane and maybe even Adelaide are all still competining to have a good spot in the eighth. The only teams that have no chance of playing finals are Melbourne, West Coast and Fremantle. As you said, Richmond may need a miracle to make the eight, but, it isn't impossible. It should be an exciting finish this season, with so many contenders capable of playing finals! Certainties would have to be Sydney, Geelong, Hawthorn and the Dogs.

EDIT: Ok, Essendon have a slight chance if they do well second half of the season, but they have a lot of competition in Carlton, St Kilda, Kangaroos and Richmond.

I don't think Port have a chance, as I said about the Bombers, there's way too much competition for the eight his year!

  5. **I think that at this stage of the season it's too hard to tell.

Geelong, Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs are certain to make the finals and are a good chance to make the top four.

Melbourne, West Coast, Freo and Port really have little or no hope of making the eight (Port has already publicly declared their season over).**

  6. I can't see Hawks, Dogs, Cats or Swans missing out on the 8.

The bottom 2-3 spots in the 8 are definitely up for grabs. Could be Saints, Pies, North, Carlton, Brisbane and possibly Richmond
