  1. I will have to take Alves

  2. Alves... Hughes is over the hill. He got destroyed by GSP twice. Both fights weren't even close. Alves is young and hungry.

  3. Hughes

  4. Hughes.  He's trained for years with Miletich, and has better guys in his camp.  Hughes will not want to strike much, so he'll go in counter-striking, feinting, and eventually shoot a takedown.  Once it goes to the ground it's Matt Hughes' world.

Alves hasn't fought someone like Hughes before - he's a monster once he gets you down.  Alves' wrestling isn't good enough to stand back up, nor is his jits good enough to submit Hughes.  By round 2 Matt Hughes submits Thiago Alves by rear naked choke or armbar.

  5. Matt Hughes will win because he is a lot more experienced and has seen everything that can be thrown at him that is possible in a mtach, plus Alves beat karo who hasnt fought well in his last 3 fights if Alves would have lost that fight no one would even be talking about him.

  6. alves isnt really good  all. and he got beat by spencer fisher. so hughes all the way

  7. Alves, Hughs has had his best years, just like Liddell.

  8. Alves will knock him out in the first round. UFC 85 is the worst fight card in MMA history.

  9. I think alves will because although matt hughes is very good he had trouble with GSP and his kicks and if Alves uses his muay thai hughes wont have a chance.

I would like to see hughes win though.....

  10. I'm putting mine on Hughes, simply because he has tremendous experience and a solid base. He's also a favorite of mine :)

  11. Hughes.  I watched the promo last night, and the UFC made it seem like Alves has a very good chance against Hughes.  But, most MMA fans will agree that Alves has a chance against Hughes, but not a good one.  Hughes is just way more experienced and stronger than Alves.  Alves is a good striker and all, but once when he goes to the ground, Hughes will beat him.

  12. I'm thinking Hughes will take it. Alves is going to go out there, and once the bell rings, he's going to be like, "d**n. That's Matt Freaking Hughes."  He's going to get nervous. Matt will take advantage. Not saying that Alves isn't good. His time will come. Hughes just ain't quite done yet.

  13. i have to go with alves.  his fight with karo  really opened my eyes.  hughes does not look like the fighter that beat trigg twice or sherk.  not saying that hes over the hill but he knows what hes accomplished in the sport and does not look like he still has the killer instinct he did back in the day.  i have to look at this as a tune up fight for hughes to get ready for serra.  he'll train but like he did against penn the first time, he'll take him lightly.  he'll win the first round and get ko'd in the 2nd

  14. Alves by KO in 3 round
