Can get reasonable runners for around £800-£1000 for fiesta, clio or corsa. Sometimes as little as £400, but I'd advise getting these checked if you don't know what you're looking for.

US: Top Gear (BBC) had a $1000 car challenge and they were in pretty terrible condition and struggled to find anything initially. Cadillac filled with newspaper, Pick up that had body misaligned with chassis - the sort of stuff that would fail the MOT in UK (minimum safety standard test).
