I have been doing some research on vacuum's and it's making my eyes bleed =/ I am looking for either an upright or canister with attachments for windows, upholstery, corners etc. One that can do a good job on bare floors and carpet and does not sound like a jet is going to take off in your house. I would prefer a bag model. The bagless models are so messy to clean. I'd also like it to have a nice long wand attachment to do ceiling fans and such without having to climb up on a chair to do it. My price range is up to $200. Any help would be very much appreciated.

  1. I have a Riccar and absolutely love it.  I have to vacuum everyday because I have parrots.  The insides are not made out of plastic.

  2. I know exactly what you're going through.  I researched vacuums for months before I finally bought a new one.  I love my Eureka Boss SmartVac.  I didn't want to spend a crazy amount of money, but I wanted a good solid long lasting vacuum b/c I vacuum everyday.  I've had it for 2 yrs now, and NO problems whatsoever.  I went with the bagged b/c I HATE cleaning those nasty bagless vacuums.  The bags are very easy & clean to remove & replace.  It has plenty of attachments with hose extenders.  Plenty of different floor level adjustments including bare floor.  I have ceramic tile throughout my home (no carpet) and the bare floor setting works great.  It sucks up pet hair like crazy.  I use the hose attachment to vacuum rugs. Also, one thing I love is the fact that you can turn the brush roller OFF with the flip of a switch!  No trash shooting out behind the vacuum when cleaning tile floors!!  I love this vacuum and will buy another one in a few years when this one wears out.  I paid about $130 for it.

  3. I have a Dyson Animal. I love it. It is a bagless, but the mess is really minimal. The canister comes off with one button, then you press another button and the bottom opens and drops the waste out. You never have to touch the canister. To close, you just set it on the floor and it closes. Also, it has filters that are all washable. Refills only every 5 years or so. It was more than $200 but it was worth every penny.
