It's not offered routinely in the UK at the moment, but my 6 month old son was able to have it and I wondered how common it is now?

  1. It's probably a good idea with the rise in drug resistant TB over the last decade, and cases of TB on the rise amongst immigrant populations.

  2. If it was offered I would definately have them vacinated. I hope that it does become routine.

  3. All of my 3 children had the vaccine when they were small babies as the have Asain origin. In Scotland it is routinely offered to all babies from ethnic minorities who may go abroad or come in contact with family members who have travelled abroad. As far as I know everyone else doesn't get the vaccine until they start secondary school, that's when I remember getting mine.

  4. It's very common on now!

My 33yr old brother at the beginning of the year was seriously ill in hospital for two months with TB.

The rest of the family had to be tested and my 6yr old son came back as TB positive, not active just positive which meant 3 months of antibiotics.

The goverment in their infinite wisdom no longer routinely give the TB vaccine, as they say cases of TB have dropped!

Don't listen to the government TB is far more rife than they would you have believe.

  5. we no longer get it in the uk unless we are forgein. as i was told by the midwife after i told her my daughter needed 1 as my partner had tb they gave it to my son who is now 3 when he was just 4 days old. we no longer  get it in the uk at ne age unless really really needed. which is wrong. what happened to the saying look after your own??

  6. normally they give tb when they are older but i must admit i would have my little girl done if it was on offer as so many things seem to be going wrong and tb can kill measles is out around london and that can be bad so anything what would protect my child i would have
