Question:

Who's more klutzy: men or women?

My boyfriend's always laughing at me because I'm constantly bumping into things and nearly head to toe covered in bruises. Much to my dismay he claims my s*x is to blame for my lack of agility.

Now, of course only a few minutes after saying this he did drop a huge bowl of salsa on the living room carpet, but that was probably just a little poetic justice, lol.

But I do wonder if this is gender related, almost every woman I know is a klutz too but I really can't think of many men I know who are nearly as accident prone as myself and the female company I keep.

How bout in your lives?

PS: Way too lazy today, if anyone has the patience to find out if there are any actual studies on this, I'd love to see 'em.

  1. s*x or gender doesn't determine clumsiness.

  2. In my experience, my girlfriend's kind of a klutz, and I've had more of my things damaged by visiting female friends than male ones.  So, in my life, women seem to be winning the klutz contest as of now.

But I think anyone who claims to have a definitive answer one way or the other needs to seriously consider which orifices they use to speak with.

EDIT: I've got to agree with you about the hilarity of the first answer.  Using the word "statistics" and having statistical data are not the same thing - the place where they don't intersect is commonly known as "bullsh*t."  ;)

Personally, I seem to recall reading something about textiles sweatshops preferring to hire adolescent girls because, of all the segments of the population they could target, they had the best dexterity.  But that's probably just the sweatshops trying to be PC, right?

  3. I had a ex gf tell me I had a clumsy Chevy Chase thing going on. So I'll have to say men.

  4. as a guy, i used to be accident prone just over a year ago.  But for the last year ( i am 20 now) a lot has changed.  I now almost completely avoid all accidents and i see anything possibly impeding my progress that could result in accident.

however, my gender has nothing to do with why.  In the last year, i realized i was sort of klutzy, so i just started paying attention to things.  Trying to notice the minor details.  And after only a few months of trying to notice the minor things, i now naturally see the minor things and avoid accidents.

I think guys tend to be this way more than women though mainly because men tend to work in more physically demanding environments in which being klutzy could result in serious injury.  While women on the other hand, tend to not work in such environments
