  1. I think John Eales does it for me.

Not only was he a fantastic player but also an inspirational captain.

  2. As a New Zealander there are a lot of great rugby players, both in union and league.  David Campese was my favourite.  I remember him when in 1982 he beat our best winger, Stu Wilson, at that time I thought Stu Wilson was the best winger ever.  Ever since then I always thought he was great, he may have had a few defficiencies but that does not negate his skills.  Even when he knocked us out of the World Cup in 1991, I can still remember a year later the All Blacks were saying they have no fear of him he's just one player in a very talented team.  David Campese gets the ball and you see 15 All Blacks panic.  His skills are legendary.  I am not saying he's the best Australian rugby player but I like him.

  3. I think Johnny Wilkinson was regarded as the standout player in the last world cup, I think he comes from Tamworth

  4. John Eils none of them would have got the ball without him.

by the way Jonny Wilkinson played for Britain

  5. probably David Campese, but who cares really when the REAL World Cup is about to start.

  6. Anyone. Rugby league requires no skill. Get the worlds most obese man in there and there you go, all time greatest rugby champion ever. Oh, and get the Melbourne Storm out of our city. And the state of origin match. Nobody cares.

  7. John Eales would probably win the popular vote ahead of Ken Catchpole.Mark Ella would be a show.My favourite is Mark Loane followed by Jim Lenehan.Eales was inspirational as a lineout jumper, captain, goalkicker. The total package.Loane on the rampage was simply awesome.Unstoppable.

  8. Phil Kearns. Hookers rule the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. You have the Ella brothers, Gary, Mark, and Steve. Mark was a magician with the ball, and would be the equivalent of Andrew Jones today.

David Campese should also get a mention, as he was also a magician with the ball in his hand as well. He could score a try from almost anywhere on the field. I remember seeing him once pick the ball up with his fingertips, inches above the try line to score, with opposing defenders all around him, chasing the ball.

  10. Larkham.

He has an amazing read of the pitch, superb hands, and a very precise boot.

  11. Mark Ella.  Awesome to watch.  Best reader of the game I have ever seen.  And he scored a try in every international match in the Grand Slam tour.

  12. john ells, mark ella and george gregan

  13. David Campese

  14. david campese. guy with a lot of talent in just one foot never mind two and im a pom lol
